The Work Starts Tomorrow

Not only am I back at work after the Christmas break, but the Plaid leadership nominations open. On top of this, there will be conclusions drawn from a far reaching party review; something that will no doubt set some of the debate during the leadership contest.I am part of some publicity to launch the leadership contest tomorrow, of which I sincerely hope I am not on camera for. Let's just call it an early lunch and a way of keeping to one of my new year resolutions.

The next 12 months are huge for Plaid and if we get it right, our endeavours will yet again set the Welsh political agenda. Wales is very much at a political crossroads, where many changes will be driven by political forces well outside the influence of our borders. It is crucial that we are pro-active when these changes come, but there are only limited if welcome signs of this to date, from the Labour administration in Cardiff Bay. The way in which Wales has been treated over the £400m Olympic rip-off is a major worry, as all three main UK parties have played their part in not standing up for Wales. Our nation needs to gain the respect of London and not its contempt and relying on our rugby side is with respect, not good enough.

So let the work start tomorrow and let's see what my party has got to offer.
