Don't miss it
The deadline date for being a Plaid member and having a vote for the new leader is fast approaching, so if you are undecided and sitting on the fence - get off it!
In Plaid, there is no special weighting for anyone in the party. Whether you are an AM, MP, MEP or President, you have no more say than someone who joins this weekend. We don't bother with the ludicrous system that chooses the Labour leader and I suspect in hindsight, that Labour regret it as well-sorry Ed. Of course as a member, you have a say on the 95 recommendations being hotly debated by the party as to our future direction. You also get an annual conference that decides policy and cannot be 'cancelled' for cost reasons. Unlike the Tories in Wales, Plaid is answerable to its members in Wales and not to a London leader.
So, click on the link below and join online or phone our HQ (Ty Gwynfor) on Monday and join that way (029 20472272). Your vote could make all the difference.

Who do you recommend we vote for then?
ReplyDeleteI would guess that anyone reading this blog probably is of a progressive bent, and would do well to read Adam Price's take on the elction
ReplyDeleteAnon. I would not normally bottle it and not publicly state my preference, but this leadership election coincides with the Council elections and as Director of Elections for the party, I do not believe it appropriate to declare in this instance.
ReplyDeleteThanks for that link, Sionnyn.
ReplyDeleteAdam makes a powerful case for Leanne, which I fully endorse.
I have previously supported and been a member of Plaid, so am not opposed to the party. I left because I got so fed up of the narrow minded language obsession by some of its members, the self centred careerism, managerialism and the refusal to speak up for ordinary Welsh people.
ReplyDeleteIf I were still a member I would support Leanne, as she is the one most likely to shake the party out of its complacency. However, for that reason, she has very little chance of winning, most rank and file Plaid members have no time for a mouthy, lefty woman from the valleys.
If however she did win, and start o make an impact on the party, I would seriously consider re-joining.
