Today's fantastic result in Wembley is so important to the future of Swansea the city, not just the football club. First of all, I must thank the FAW for having a live TV screen on the Eisteddfod Maes, but it was easy to keep up on the score as everyone was listening on the radio anyway.
From the last time we were promoted, it does feel a little different. That happened on a Saturday in Preston and my eldest brother had the temerity to get married on the same day, so his fiance would not let us go to the game. We did manage to sneak a radio into the back of the church so at least kept up to date with the score.
I heard on an English media outlet that Swansea would now be known for something other than the DVLA, now that we were in the Premiership and although such comments are annoying, it does highlight the opportunity to promote the city and all it has to offer. Let's tell the world what Swansea has to offer, for there will never be a better opportunity.
Swansea can now take it's rightful place alongside the Wigans, Stokes, Blackburns and Wolverhamptons of this world.
ReplyDeleteWhat exactly does Swansea have to offer the visitor during the depths of winter?
I see comparisons being made with Blackpool, but Swansea is hardly geared up for visitors like Blackpool, is it?
Let's hope that the Swans make sure that Wales and the Welsh Language is well represented on their programmes.
ReplyDeleteThis is good for Wales - but we have to make sure that all the visiting fans know that Swansea is Welsh!
