The last time that I remember Swansea being this united was in the campaign to site the Assembly here, so let's hope that is not an omen for Monday. I have previously blogged on the issue of promotion to the English Premiership but now that there is only one Welsh city in the running, it deserves another mention.
The result on Monday goes well beyond the success of a sports club with the city name, it would in one stroke market Swansea on the world map, inject ten of millions into the local economy and bring a source of pride to the city as the only Welsh club in the most successful football league on the planet. So no pressure then.
I will be in Swansea and not Wembley on Monday, but am unlikely to be very far from the nearest TV screen. As a teenager, I followed Toshack and his men home and away when we were last at the top and those memories and feeling of pride have stayed with me always. Let's hope, pray (and anything else you can think of) that another generation of Jacks have the same opportunity as I had.
A CONSEQUENCE OF CHANGE...
